STEM CELL PATCH: THE HOPE FOR CURING DISEASES

STEM CELLS hold the key to unlock many complex health issues and provide hope for our future. Continued experiments using stem cells have been beneficial in understanding their function. Scientists have uncovered another secret about them. They are able to utilize a stem cell patch that is a more efficient way of cell repair. The stem cell patch consists of an outer layer of the organism's own adipose(fat) and an inner layer seeded with stem cells. Due to the outer layer of adipose, the stem cells are able to survive longer, thus allowing more of them to travel to tissue, where they can repair whatever is needed.

The stem cell patch has been utilized in a study of STEM CELLS Translational Medicine in Durham, North Carolina with mice, repairing blood vessels from cardiac damage due a heart attack that had occured weeks before.

Stem cells give us hope for a better future in being able to cure many challenging diseases, such as cardiovascular disease, Type 1 Diabetes, Parkinson's Disease, and Leukemia.                                (Citation 12)

STEM CELL EXTRACTION LEADS TO DISCOVERIES

  • The discovery of extracting stem cells has allowed scientists to learn a great deal of information about their function, leading to many different discoveries in stem cell research. These discoveries are responsible for helping cure many different diseases. (Citation 27)
